Leheriya, a traditional Rajasthani tie-dye craft, reflects the vibrant spirit of its origin. Artisans skillfully create wave-like patterns by resist-dyeing the fabric. This involves tying sections of the cloth before dyeing, resulting in dynamic, colorful designs. It derives its name from the word leher, meaning ‘wave’, and refers to the inspirations behind the designs: the monsoon season as well as the desert landscape.
Leheriya, with its rich history and intricate technique, remains a celebrated art form, embodying the cultural essence of Rajasthan.
