Sambalpuri Ikat is a traditional handwoven textile from the state of Odisha known for its vibrant patterns and intricate dyeing technique. What makes this weave unique is the ‘bandha’ or tie-dye process, where both the warp and weft threads are carefully tied and dyed before weaving. This requires immense precision, as the final pattern only emerges once the fabric is woven. More than just a textile, it’s a symbol of identity and pride, especially in western Odisha, where it originated.
